Information Wins
The biggest key to winning when you bet preseason baseball is to find out who is pitching and the starters who are playing. And yes, this information can be found. Sometimes you might have to wait until the lineups for both teams are released but you will still have time to bet the game. You can usually find pitching rotations for each time as well if you do a little research.
Forget about Trends and Stats
The preseason in baseball is almost the exact opposite of the regular season because trends and stats mean nothing. You won’t see all of the starters playing, the starting pitchers won’t be listed and you won’t have much of a home field advantage for any of the teams. There are just not many trends and numbers that mean anything.
Generic Odds
Normally when you bet baseball you are looking at a lot of different money lines and totals. That is not the case in the preseason as there are no totals and the lines are generic. Normally the home team is about a -120 or -130 favorite and teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies get another dime or twenty cents added to their numbers. That is it. The oddsmakers don’t do much research as to the starting pitchers or who is in the lineup. For the most part they simply don’t care. The oddsmakers put up generic lines and if they happen to take a lot of action they might move the line slightly.
Do the Work
If you want to win when betting preseason baseball then you need to do the work. Read the team’s websites and their local papers. That is where you will find information pertaining to exhibition games. And make sure to check the starting lineups at MLB.com before the game.
Exhibition baseball begins on March 2nd so it won’t be long before you can start betting the games. Follow BetDSI on Twitter for more sports betting news.
