Five of the six favorites in baseball odds to win the 2012 World Series are from the American League with the only National League team being the Philadelphia Phillies. Let’s take a look at the American League for 2012 and the favorites in baseball odds at the offshore sportsbook.

    American League East

The New York Yankees are one of the main favorites in MLB futures to win the 2012 World Series. The Yankees have a great lineup led by Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira and a pitching staff that has been greatly improved with the additions of Michael Pineda and Hiroki Kuroda. After the Yankees it is a close race between Boston and Tampa Bay for second place. The Red Sox have a solid lineup but there are pitching questions and can Bobby Valentine really lead this team to the playoffs?

Tampa Bay looks like the better team with one of the top starting rotations in all of baseball. Toronto is always around .500 and they have a lot of talent but they still have to prove they can play with the top three teams and Baltimore is still a last place team.

    American League Central

The Tigers are one of the favorites to win the World Series as they added Prince Fielder. What people are forgetting is that they lost Victor Martinez. Detroit’s defense is going to be terrible and they could be overvalued in baseball odds. The Twins could bounce back if Joe Mauer is healthy while the White Sox need Adam Dunn to prove he can still hit. Cleveland has some young talent as does Kansas City but neither team has shown they are ready to contend yet.

    American League West

The AL West is going to be a great race between Texas and Los Angeles. The Rangers have one of the best hitting teams in the league while the Angels have one of the best starting rotations and now they have Albert Pujols. It could be that both the Rangers and Angels make the playoffs this season. The A’s and Mariners are going nowhere and it is only a battle to see which team finishes last.
