1. Albert Pujols – With respect to Prince Fielder who is younger than Pujols there is still no player in the league who is more feared than Pujols. He is already a future Hall of Famer and he still has a lot of great years left. If he leaves the Cardinals they will likely go from World Series champs to missing the playoffs.
2. Prince Fielder – He has proven to be an excellent power hitter and he is still in his prime. The love affair with Fielder may be too much because he may not be the same player if he leaves Milwaukee.
3. Jose Reyes - A lot of teams really would like to add Reyes in the off-season. He has the ability to be a game-changer but he has had injury issues which keep him from being higher on this list.
4. Jimmy Rollins - He is four years older than Reyes but you can make a case he has been just as valuable. The Phillies have won a World Series with Rollins as a big cog in the lineup and when he is healthy he can make a huge difference for any team.
5. Mark Buehrle - Teams that are looking for a solid left-handed starter would be wise to get Buehrle. He has thrown more than 200 innings in 11 straight years. He is not an elite pitcher anymore but he definitely would be a solid number two on almost every team.
6. C.J. Wilson - The Rangers left-hander comes in behind Buehrle simply because he isn’t as reliable. He didn’t come through for the Rangers in the World Series and that is one reason they lost to the Cardinals against the baseball betting odds. He is really not a #1 starter but that is what he was with the Rangers.
7. Carlos Beltran – I guess you have to put Beltran on this list but who knows if he can stay healthy. When he is in the lineup he is an above average outfielder but there is no question he is overrated.
8. David Ortiz – The Red Sox will try and bring back their DH because without him there would be a huge hole in their lineup. He hit 29 home runs last year and hit over .300. He is getting up there in age but a lot of teams would love to have him in the middle of their lineup.
