MLB Baseball Betting - Florida Marlins

A team to keep a close eye on in baseball betting at the offshore sportsbook in 2012 is the Marlins. They could be a real surprise team in the National League with a new name (Miami Marlins) new manager (Ozzie Guillen), some exciting young hitters (Hanley Ramirez, Mike Stanton) and a new All-Star closer. The Marlins proved they are serious about contending as they signed Heath Bell to a $27 million dollar deal.

    Heath Bell

The addition of Heath Bell to the Marlins is a big sign that Florida is serious about winning in the National League. The team signed Bell to a three-year deal worth a reported $27 million dollars. Bell has saved more than 40 games in each of the past three years with San Diego. He saved 43 games in 48 chances this past year for the Padres. The Marlins may end up losing Leo Nunez who closed games for them in the past.

    New Ballpark

When a team moved into a new ballpark they oftentimes will go out and spend money on players to make sure they are an immediate contender. Florida owner Jeffrey Loria has been reluctant to spend money but now it appears the Marlins want to win. The Marlins have reported to be interested in Albert Pujols, C.J. Wilson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and others. There have been reports that the Marlins have already offered Reyes a six-year deal worth $90 million dollars.

    More Moves to Come

The Marlins are going to make more moves as it seems everyone is said to be on their radar. Florida already has two superstars in shortstop Hanley Ramirez and starting pitcher Josh Johnson so they are not far from being a World Series contender. Whether or not the Marlins can afford Albert Pujols is in question but it was said that Pujols has been impressed with what the Marlins are offering. Florida plays in a tough division in the National League East but they are positioning themselves to make some serious improvement in 2012 and they are a team to really watch in baseball betting next season.
