2012 MLB Betting - American League Central Preview

    2012 MLB Betting

The American League Central in 2012 is supposed to be all about the Detroit Tigers as they won the division by 15 games last year and added Prince Fielder in the off-season. Is there hope for the other four teams in 2012 MLB betting in the AL Central?

    Detroit Tigers

It seems that everyone is giving the AL Central to the Tigers in 2012. There is no doubt that Detroit is the favorite as they have the reigning AL Cy Young award winner in Justin Verlander and a big bat in Fielder. They don’t have Victor Martinez though and their defense is going to be awful, especially if they move Miguel Cabrera to third and play Fielder at first. It will be hard for Verlander to repeat what he did last year and there is no question the Tigers will be overvalued in 2012 MLB betting odds.

    Cleveland Indians

The Indians could be a good team if they could ever stay healthy. It seems every single year the Indians lose multiple players to injury. They need to keep Grady Sizemore, Travis Hafner and Shin-Soo Choo healthy. Remember, the Indians were a major surprise for much of last season and it would not take much to see them challenging Detroit in 2012.

    Kansas City Royals

The Royals are starting to get some of their young talent to the Major League level and it shows. The lineup looks much better with Eric Hosmer in the middle and there is finally hope in KC. Now they just need some of their pitching prospects to deliver. Getting Jonathan Sanchez in the off-season was a nice move but to contend for the division they need more than just Bruce Chen to come through in the starting rotation.

    Minnesota Twins

The team that disappointed the most last year in this division was Minnesota as Joe Mauer was hurt and the Twins fell to last place. Could the Twins go from last to first in 2012? It seems unlikely but Ron Gardenhire has worked his magic before.

    Chicago White Sox

The White Sox won’t look the same this season as Ozzie Guillen is now managing the Marlins while pitcher Mark Buehrle is with him. Unless the White Sox get a big bounce back season from Adam Dunn they could easily finish in last place in 2012.
