The Cubs traded their malcontent to the Miami Marlins in exchange for pitcher Chris Volstad. The Cubs will also have to pay $15 million of Zambrano’s $18 million dollar salary for 2012. Zambrano had a no trade clause be he agreed to waive it to go to the Marlins. The Cubs also agreed to pay Zambrano the $2.4 million he lost when he was suspended back in August.
The St. Louis Cardinals have already had highs and lows and the 2012 baseball season hasn’t even started yet. The Cardinals won the World Series last season but then in the off-season they lost future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols in free agency and now they have signed Carlos Beltran. Maybe there is hope for St. Louis Cardinals betting next season.
How does $51.7 million dollars sound just to negotiate with a player? That is what the Texas Rangers reportedly paid to the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters for pitcher Yu Darvish.
